The First Cask bottlings were released by the First Cask Whisky Circle, a mail order whisky club owned by Direct Wines Ltd, owners of Laithwaite's and the Sunday Times Wine Club. The casks were sourced from Signatory and were therefore excellent.
First Cask's heyday came in the 1990s and 2000s, with bottlings drying up around 2012. This Linkwood 1990 is one of the later bottlings, a 19 year old single hogshead with a very promising colour bottled at First Cask's usual 46%. Linkwood is an underrated distillery - we'd wager this will be a cracking dram.
